What are roman curtains?
Roman curtains are flat fabric panels that fold up into soft, even pleats when you raise them, and hang flat when you lower them. They look like a curtain when lowered and like a neat stack of folds when raised. How do roman curtains work?
A roman curtain is fixed above the window on a headrail. Cords or a chain run through rings on the back of the fabric. When you pull the cord or chain, the fabric lifts and folds into layers, and when you release it, the fabric lowers and hangs flat. Some roman curtains can also use a motor, and we confirm which options are available for your window.

Inside fitting needs a recess deep enough for the headrail, and outside fitting gives better coverage at the sides. Roman curtains with cords or chains need safe fixing, especially in rooms used by children, so tell us if the room is a nursery or a child’s bedroom. We advise on the fitting and the control when we measure.
